Senior Keith Byars was supposed to make a run at the Heisman Trophy
in 1985, but a broken bone in his foot during the preseason stymied
his final year. The offensive void was never more prominent than
in this defensive struggle with BYU.
Cougars quarterback Robbie Bosco was considered one of the nations
best passers, but Ohio State intercepted him four times. Larry Kolic
pocketed two picks, returning one 14 yards in the second quarter
for the Buckeyes only TD. That helped the Bucks climb out
of a 7-3 halftime deficit and proved to be the game-winning score.
Bosco completed 26-of-50 passes for 261 yards, but was intercepted
twice in the end zone in the fourth quarter. Safety Terry Whites
pick with three seconds remaining clinched the victory.
